Objectives

The primary objective of the two-day Management Development Program (MDP) was to enhance the data analysis and reporting capabilities of Havells Group employees by introducing them to Microsoft Power BI. The program aimed to enable participants to transform raw business data into meaningful visual insights, thereby supporting data-driven decision-making, performance monitoring, and efficient business reporting

Day 1 – 23rd June 2024

The first day of the training focused on building a strong foundation in data visualization and Power BI concepts.

The session began with an introduction to Business Intelligence (BI) and the growing importance of data visualization in modern organizations. Participants were briefed on how Power BI helps organizations convert large volumes of data into easy-to-understand dashboards and reports.

Key topics covered on Day 1 included:

  • Overview of Microsoft Power BI and its business applications
  • Understanding the Power BI interface and components
  • Connecting Power BI to multiple data sources
  • Importing datasets relevant to real business scenarios
  • Introduction to data cleaning and transformation

Hands-on practice sessions were conducted where participants worked with sample datasets. They learned how to remove errors, clean raw data, and prepare it for analysis using Power BI tools. Interactive discussions helped participants relate Power BI features to Havells’ real business requirements.

The first day concluded with participants gaining confidence in navigating Power BI and understanding the end-to-end data visualization workflow.

Day 2 – 24th June 2024

The second day emphasized advanced usage, dashboard creation, and practical application of Power BI.

The session started with a recap of Day 1, followed by hands-on dashboard development. Participants learned how to visually represent business data using charts, graphs, and interactive reports.

Key topics covered on Day 2 included:

  • Designing interactive dashboards
  • Data modeling and relationships
  • Creating basic calculations and measures
  • Interpreting business data through visuals

Publishing and sharing Power BI reports for organizational use

Participants actively built dashboards step-by-step using live datasets. They explored how visual insights can support decision-making, track performance, and identify trends. The training encouraged collaborative learning and problem-solving through real-life business examples.

The day concluded with a review session and discussion on how Power BI can be effectively implemented in daily business operations at Havells Group

By the end of the two-day Management Development Program, participants:
