A 3-Hour Website Creation Workshop in Digital Marketing was conducted for the PGDM First Year students for section C 2026-28 Batch by our resource person Mr Ajeetab Kotwal, Digital marketing faculty Lloyd Business School with the objective of introducing them to the fundamentals of website development as an essential component of digital marketing.

Practical knowledge of website planning

Domain selection

Hosting

WordPress installation, and

Website customization.

The session emphasized experiential learning by combining theoretical concepts with live demonstrations and hands-on activities, enabling students to build the foundation required for creating professional business websites.

OBJECTIVES The workshop aimed to:

Familiarize students with the WordPress Content Management System (CMS).

SESSION 1

Introduction to Digital Marketing & Domain Names

The workshop commenced with an introduction to Digital Marketing and the critical role websites play in establishing an online presence.

Topics covered included:

  • Fundamentals of Digital Marketing
  • Importance of websites in modern business
  • Characteristics of effective and ineffective websites
  • Understanding domain names
  • Best practices for selecting professional domain names
  • Domain registration process

Practical Activities

Students:

  • Analysed various business websites to identify effective design and marketing practices.
  • Explored domain availability.
  • Shortlisted suitable domain names for their business ideas or personal brands.
SESSION 2

Website Hosting & WordPress Setup

The second session focused on website hosting and the installation of WordPress CMS.

Topics covered included:

  • Understanding web hosting
  • Types of hosting (Shared, VPS, Cloud)
  • Selecting appropriate hosting plans
  • Introduction to Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • WordPress installation process
  • Navigating the WordPress Dashboard
  • Website settings and configuration

Hands-on Activities

Students:

  • Compared different hosting providers.
  • Selected suitable hosting options based on business requirements.
  • Installed WordPress CMS.
  • Explored dashboard features including Posts, Pages, Themes, Plugins, and Media Library.
SESSION 3

Website Customization & Marketing Readiness

The final session focused on transforming a basic website into a marketing-ready platform.

Topics covered included:

  • Theme installation and customization
  • Difference between free and premium WordPress themes
  • Website layout planning
  • Creating Home, About, and Contact pages
  • Introduction to themeforest.net website for selecting paid themes.

Final Practical Activity

Each participant developed a basic website consisting of:

  • Minimum three webpages
  • One blog post
  • Customized theme

Students presented their websites at the conclusion of the workshop.

The Website Creation Workshop successfully provided PGDM First Year students with practical exposure to website development using WordPress.
