Workshop on “Financial Statement Analysis – A practical approach”

A Workshop on “Financial Statement Analysis – A practical approach” was organized on 5th February, 2022 by E-Cell. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Puja Goel with an objective to make students learn decoding financial statements – Income Statement, Balance sheet and cash flow statement. A sound comprehension of financial statements is a quintessential requirement for students, business owners, and financial institutions alike. Also, with increasing popularity of investment in share market amongst retail investors in India, it has become imperative to gain an insight into the financial soundness of a publicly traded company.

The workshop assisted students to connect the classroom learning with a real company's analysis. With the hands-on approach used in the workshop students were able to develop a deeper understanding of accounting entries. The tools used were the annual report of ACC Limited, MS excel and PowerPoint. This workshop equipped the participants to gain insights into reading financial statements of a non-financial public limited company using a case study approach, facilitated by Dr. Puja Goel.
