Expert Talk On Be Your Own Boss – Start Your Own Start – Up

Mr. Chandan Tiwari – Founder and CEO at Entrepreneurial Development Council, Mentor at starup India , Start in UP, MicroMentor USA, Mentor at Change in AIM, NITI Aayog, Mentor at Desh ka Mentors. Mr. Tiwari shared with the students his journey of career struggles and how being an IITian led him to do MBA from IIM. He pursued studies about rural development also after that. He shared how entrepreneurial skills are important and demanding in today’s time and that Entrepreneurial council’s main motto is to identify talents and also to work on them. He encouraged the students by saying that everybody has a unique style – which is their best style and one should keep trying to strive for better. Mr. Chandan elaborated the importance of execution in start ups which starts with identification of problems and finding solutions for the same. All this is backed by having a good network wherein the ideas can be shared with others who are creative yet intellectual people so that you are aware about negatives and positives.He also shared that the key for a startup is innovation in any sense, which demarks the difference between business and start-up. He also elaborated the difference between Businesses and start up as per the Govt. Guidelines.Mr. Tiwari suggested one should learn to initiate and start with your own idea, believe in that. He also mentioned about the problems and drawbacks that one may face like there are no mentors for sales but many for marketing, therefore one should take government support, he also mentioned how government provides support to entrepreneurs. He elaborated on what EDC does to support entrepreneurs and how he started with Rs. 10 and now has 100 crore funding.

MANOJ KUMAR JENA – Founder and CEO at KNKT India Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Mentor at Change in AIM, NITI Aayog. He reflected upon his struggle since childhood and how he learnt from his mistakes and made observations. His initial start-ups were miserably failed and how he gracefully accepted his failures and identified his problems like he did not do market research, competitor analysis, finance problems. Mr. Jena shared that there is a chance for failure of the start up but not of a start up FOUNDER. They learn and should implement them in the future. He encouraged the students to dream big and be grounded, learn from your mistakes and always give it a try.

RIDDHIMA DWIVEDI – Co-Founder and Director at Entrepreneurial Development Council, Mentor at Change in AIM, NITI Aayog. She shared that everyone who has problems starts to adjust with it rather than look for a solution. Therefore, to convert an entrepreneur's vision into a billion dollar business one should be ready for the taste of success, struggle and failure.

The talk ended with a fruitful Q and A led by Mr. Chandan where he answered the queries of the students relating to: Transparency, Work ethics, TEAM WORK which makes the dream work, because together everyone achieves more. The event was concluded by felicitation of the guests by Director, LBS – Dr. Ashok Tiwari and Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Honey Gupta. The event was graced by Group Director LLOYD – Dr. Vandana Arora Sethi, faculties and all the management students.
