Detailed Report

Lloyd Business School organized a 3-day Collaborative Leadership Program, Jim Corbett, for PGDM students as a part of its co-curricular leadership and team-building initiatives. This program aimed to provide students with experiential learning in leadership, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and team dynamics outside the traditional classroom environment. The three days leadership training involves activities to synergise, strategies and strengthen the teams.

Day 1: Strategy in silence

The journey began with enthusiasm as students reached the serene resort. The environment itself felt like an escape into nature—a perfect backdrop to reflect and lead. But rest wasn’t on the schedule; the first activity set the tone for what was to come.

Dr. Ripudaman Gaur introduced a mind-boggling task: count from 1 to 100, but with a twist. Eyes closed, no pre- decided order, and if two people said the same number, the game restarted. It seemed impossible at first—how do you coordinate without seeing or speaking beforehand?

That’s when the leadership instincts of students kicked in. All the group quickly devised a silent strategy: only 10 people would speak, the rest would remain quiet. If faculty caught on, it subtly switch to non-speakers. It was a brilliant play between structure and adaptability.

Learnings: strategy and silence can be powerful tools. Leadership doesn’t always mean speaking louder; sometimes, it’s about planning smarter and trusting the team.

Day 2: Learning through laughter and bonding

The second day began with a peaceful yoga session and a calming nature walk. These moments helped center minds of the students and breathe freely before stepping into another day of activities.

One of the most insightful sessions was when Dr Krity Gulati grouped the teams in circles and asked them to run in loops. Suddenly, she paused the members and turned the physical activity into a deeper connection challenge. Students were to learn about each other—names, hometowns, motivations behind choosing specialisations, likes and dislikes. It was beautiful how quickly strangers turned into friends.

Then came the "captain speaking" game. The session expert made the rules clear—when they said "captain says", students had to form specific positions with different numbers of people. Roaring (4), starfish (5), wall (6), and eating (3), to name a few. If they didn’t get into the correct group fast enough—they were out.

Following that, students played human bingo—a game that combined observation, interaction, and a touch of performance. Students had to match traits like modelling, dancing, acting, and collect signatures.

As the sun set, the cultural night brought rhythm and joy. Students made teams and performed a Bollywood scene filled with drama, music, and laughter. It wasn’t just about showcasing talent; it was about expressing who they were, together. Learnings: leadership is about inclusion, being present, and embracing everyone’s unique spark. Sometimes, stepping on stage or asking someone about their story teaches more than a lecture ever could.

Day 3: Adventure, risk and reflection

The final morning was magical—Students went on a jungle safari, and nature gave a show to remember. From majestic tigers to playful elephants and even zebras, it felt like watching leadership in the wild—how animals move in harmony, each with a role in the larger ecosystem.

Post-safari, they were handed balloons for next task. The objective? Protect your balloon while trying to pop others’. It was chaotic and fun, yet competitive.

Then came the final reflection session. Sitting together as a batch, students revisited three-day journey. Everyone had grown, not just in skills, but in understanding and emotional connection. Sharing experiences, learnings, and laughter felt like the perfect wrap-up to this incredible experience.

Learning: leadership isn’t about always winning—it’s about showing up, learning from each step, and walking away stronger, more aware, and more connected.

Learnings Outcome:

  • A transformative journey designed to provide an immersive learning experience.
  • Set in an outdoor environment, offering a unique space to develop collaborative abilities.

Closing Statement

The Collaborative Leadership Programme has been an incredibly enriching and transformative experience—one that far exceeded the boundaries of traditional learning. It offered not just knowledge, but a dynamic platform to cultivate essential leadership competencies through hands-on, experiential engagement.

Throughout the programme, students were immersed in thoughtfully designed activities that challenged them to step outside their comfort zones and embrace growth. These experiences nurtured their ability to think strategically, adapt swiftly to change, and reflect deeply on their personal values and leadership styles. More than just skill-building, the programme encouraged a spirit of self-awareness and resilience—key attributes for anyone aspiring to lead with authenticity and purpose.

Equally impactful was the sense of community and collaboration they learned to foster. By working closely with peers from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, students developed strong, meaningful connections and a deeper appreciation for the power of teamwork. The shared challenges and triumphs brought them closer together, reinforcing the idea that leadership is not a solo endeavour but a collective journey.

As they move forward with renewed confidence, fresh perspectives, and strengthened relationships, the lessons learned during this programme will undoubtedly shape their paths, both personally and professionally. It stands as a significant milestone in their growth—one that they will carry with pride and gratitude for years to come.
