Detailed Report

The program began with an introduction to the principles and importance of case study methodology in education. Participants were introduced to various case studies from descriptive to decision-based—and their applications in different teaching contexts. This session emphasized the benefits of using case studies to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

In this module, participants learned the criteria for selecting appropriate case studies aligned with course objectives and student learning outcomes. They were guided through the process of developing their case studies, with an emphasis on creating scenarios that

are realistic, relevant, and challenging. Facilitators shared best practices for writing case narratives, setting learning objectives, and framing questions that provoke critical analysis.

This session focused on the various techniques used in analyzing case studies. Faculty members were taught to dissect case studies into their core components, identify key issues, and explore different perspectives. The session also covered methods for guiding students through the analysis process, helping them to uncover underlying problems and develop solutions.

One of the highlights of the FDP was the interactive workshops on facilitating case study discussions. Participants were trained in techniques to stimulate student participation, manage diverse opinions, and keep discussions focused and productive. Role-playing exercises allowed faculty members to practice leading case discussions, handling challenging classroom dynamics, and meeting learning objectives.

The final module of the FDP addressed integrating case studies into curriculum design and assessment. Participants learned how to align case studies with course content, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies. This session also covered using case studies in exams and assignments, providing practical tips for evaluating student performance.

Learning Outcome

  • Improved Pedagogical Skills: Faculty members better understood using case studies to enhance student engagement and critical thinking.
  • Development of Custom Case Studies: Several participants began developing case studies tailored to their specific courses, using the techniques learned during the program.
  • Enhanced Classroom Dynamics: Participants reported feeling better equipped to manage and facilitate lively and productive case study discussions.
  • Alignment with Industry Standards: The FDP ensured faculty members were better prepared to align their teaching methods with industry expectations, providing students with a more practical and application-based learning experience.
