Objectives:

The primary objective of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) was to equip faculty members and researchers with the necessary knowledge and skills to distinguish between genuine academic journals and predatory ones. By identifying credible publishing platforms, the program aimed to enhance the quality and authenticity of research publications among academic professionals.

A day-long Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "How to Avoid Publishing in Predatory Journals" was conducted online via Zoom by the Research Cell of Lloyd Business School on 5th March 2022.

The program was facilitated by Professor (Dr.) Sumit Narula is a distinguished academician with a Ph.D. in Electronic Media and Conflict Resolution from Panjab

University, Chandigarh. Prof. Narula is the Deputy Dean of Research (Publications and Research) at Amity University Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He also holds the position of

Director/Head of the Amity School of Communication at Amity University, Madhya

Pradesh. Prof. Narula is the Editor-in-Chief of the bi-annual SCOPUS-indexed and UGC CARE-listed "Journal of Content Community and Communication." Additionally, he chairs the recently established Centre of Excellence for Detection of Fake News and Disinformation at Amity University Madhya Pradesh.

The FDP began with an introduction to Lloyd Business School, delivered by Dr. Fehmina

Khalique. This was followed by the official opening and inaugural address by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Tiwari, Director of Lloyd Business School, emphasized the importance of publishing in reputable journals that uphold authenticity and reliability.

The first session of the FDP, led by Prof. Narula, focused on identifying genuine academic journals and avoiding predatory ones. Through a detailed and comprehensive presentation, Prof. Narula provided practical demonstrations on distinguishing between authentic and fake or cloned journals, offering valuable insights into the publishing landscape.

The second session delved into the UGC CARE list, exploring duplicated journals prevalent in the market. Participants gained an understanding of various parameters, such as recognizing key features of a journal, evaluating its editorial board, and discerning its origin. This highly informative session fostered active engagement among the participants, creating a heightened awareness of predatory journals.
