Objectives:
The Faculty Development Programme was organized with the following objectives:
- To enhance faculty competence through the integration of Indian Knowledge
Systems (IKS) in education.
- To promote ethical and value-based education aligned with Indian traditions.
- To develop an understanding of innovative teaching methodologies inspired by
IKS.
- To bridge the gap between traditional wisdom and modern pedagogy.
- To encourage sustainable, community-based, and holistic education practices.
- To familiarize educators with AI-driven and digital integration of IKS
frameworks.
- To promote cultural and intellectual awareness among academicians.
Detailed Report
Day 1: Introduction to Indian Knowledge Systems and Educational Philosophy
The first day of the FDP focused on establishing a strong conceptual foundation of
Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and their relevance in contemporary education. The
sessions began with an overview of IKS, emphasizing its philosophical roots, ethical
framework, and contribution to holistic learning.
Participants were introduced to:
- The Gurukul system and its personalized and experiential learning approach.
- Comparative analysis between Western pedagogy and IKS-based education.
- The Panchakosha model (Five Layers of Learning) highlighting physical, mental,
intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development.
The sessions encouraged interactive discussions on how traditional Indian education
systems can be adapted within modern institutional frameworks.
Day 2: Innovative Teaching Methods and Leadership through IKS
The second day focused on the practical application of Indian Knowledge Systems in
teaching and leadership. Faculty members were exposed to innovative pedagogical
practices inspired by IKS.
Key focus areas included:
- IKS-inspired teaching methodologies for improved student engagement.
- Teaching leadership skills through concepts derived from the Bhagavad Gita.
- Dharma-centered education as a framework for ethical decision-making.
- Role of yoga and mindfulness in faculty and student development.
The sessions highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence, ethical

Day 3: Assessment, Sustainability, and Digital Integration of IKS
The final day emphasized the integration of IKS with modern educational systems,

- Integration of IKS with accreditation frameworks and curriculum guidelines.
