The Mixed Bag Approach is adopted as an interactive teaching–learning strategy to promote active participation and spontaneous learning. A set of subject-related topics or concepts is prepared and placed in a bag, from which students randomly select one topic. Each student is then given an opportunity to explain, interpret, or apply the selected topic within a stipulated time.
This approach encourages independent thinking, conceptual clarity, and confidence in expression, while also enhancing communication and presentation skills. The element of randomness ensures equal opportunity for participation and keeps learners engaged and attentive. By requiring students to recall and articulate concepts without prior selection, the Mixed Bag Approach strengthens concept reinforcement, critical thinking, and learner preparedness, thereby contributing effectively to the overall teaching–learning process.
