Thomas Garavan is Professor of Leadership Practice in CUBS, UCC. He was recently listed in the Stanford University Science-Wide author citation indicators 2020 as one of the top 2% of academics in Economics and Business. He is a world leading expert in leadership development, learning and development and HRD.

It was an exemplary and informative session by Prof. (Dr.) Thomas Garvan on "Reflecting Leadership Development in Current Times", where he highlighted that leadership development is significant due to the VUCA World. Hence a leader needs to have a clear mission, consistent communication, plan for change, look at past success and failures, embrace complexity and develop personal agility. Organizations must develop a blueprint for VUCA by providing mentoring, creating a learning culture, creating a feedback rich environment and planning the leadership transition with care.
