Institutions Innovation Council (IIC)
The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative of the Ministry of Education through MOE’s Innovation Cell in collaboration with AICTE. The purpose of IIC is to inculcate and foster the culture of innovation and start-ups amongst the budding managers in Higher Education Institutions. .
The inclination towards Innovation and Start-ups is evident and the enthusiasm amongst the youth is glaring. However, that calls for the need of requisite mentoring and support. Here comes the role of IIC i.e. to create an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship by involving a large number of faculty, students and other relevant resources. The objective of IIC is to involve a large number of faculty members, students and other stakeholders in entrepreneurship related activities like ideation and concept development, design thinking, problem solving, incubation etc. The Innovation cell helps in synergising the activities of entrepreneurship and innovation and frame it in a structured manner, hence developing the desired ecosystem of HEIs.
IIC model is unique and distinct as it integrates the functionalities of flexible calendar activities, scoring and reward system, decentralizing operation with the division of work, progress monitoring, and incentive mechanisms in a coordinated manner through a robust digital platform.
Major Focus
- To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.
- Start-up supporting mechanism in HEIs.
- Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of institutions on innovation achievements framework.
- Establish function ecosystem for scouting ideas and pre-incubation of ideas.
- Develop better cognitive ability among students.
Function of IIC
- To conduct various Innovation, IPR and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by MIC in time bound fashion.
- Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
- Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
- Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
- Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
- Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries
