Objective:

The objective of this activity were as follows:

• To enhance the knowledge of students about budget terminology.
• To understand union budget analysis in detail.
• To understand allocation of budget in an economy for various sectors
• To understand basics of taxation and personal finance.

Detailed Report

On February 8th 2023, Money Lovers (Finance Club), Lloyd Business School organized “Storm break Budget Analysis" on “Impact of Union Budget 2023 on various sectors” for the management students. The event was organized by the Finance Club to understand the basics of budget and its importance in the economy.

All participants were divided into seven groups, each with a team of six/seven members and allocated one sector of the budget. The topics for discussion were related to education, agriculture, infrastructure, employment opportunities, health management, defence sector, and taxation etc. During group discussion each member shared his/her views and insights on the topic and at last one of the teammate gave a conclusion with relevant facts and figures on their sector, so that audience could get better understanding on the budget and allocation of funds in that sector. Dr. Pooja Goel, Dr. Manvi Agarwal, and Dr. Pradeep Bhardwaj were jury members, who judged the performance of members and teams on the criteria of facts and figures, communication skills, confidence level and content.

Dr. Pradeep Bhardwaj and Dr. Manvi also shared their views on the union budget. Question and answer session were conducted for the students and participants. After the Group Discussion Prof. Sachin Sinha shared his valuable thoughts on the budget and financial literacy with the audience, then result announced for the group discussion activity.

3rd Position- Group Number A (Shubham Kesarwani, Anushka, Ankit Kumar, Mansi Kesharwani, Nikhil Kumar, Shitanshu Gupta)

Jury members distributed gift and certificates to top three teams. Event was ended with the vote of thanks by Prof. Sachin Sinha, he mentioned that this event was only successful due to consistent work of finance club members, club leaders, senior members, joint secretary and secretary.

Learning Outcomes: The "Storm break Budget Analysis" group discussion was a productive and successful event which provided the management students a comprehensive introduction to the basics of budgeting and its importance in the Indian economy. The participants had the opportunity to engage in group discussions on seven different topics related to budget and brought their best ideas and expertise to the table which worked together to achieve the common goal of learning.
