ONLINE 07 DAYS FDP ON “RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 2.0” 2022

7 days Online FDP on Research Methodology 2.0 was conducted from 05 December to 13 December by the Research Cell, Lloyd Business School. There were 150 participants including National and International participants from academia, students, research scholars, and faculty members. A brief report of the same is presented below.

DAY 01: INTRODUCTION TO THE SOFTWARE SPSS

On December 5, 2022, the workshop on Research Methodology 2.0, a seven-day faculty development program started. Dr. Hala Faisal, Dean of the Department of Economics at the Lebanese University in Lebanon, served as the workshop's resource person on Day 1. Dr. Fehmina Khalique (Associate Professor LBS), the workshop convener, gave the program's opening comments and introduction to the workshop. Dr. Vandana Arora Sethi (Chief Strategy Officer, Lloyd Group of Institutions), presented the welcome address. The day 1 workshop was broken down into eight sections. Starting with data entry into SPSS, followed by data sorting, transformation and saving, descriptive statistics, graphical display, and correlation-regression analysis. Dr. Hala also discusses data manipulation.

DAY 02 and DAY 03: BIVARIATIVE ANALYSIS USING THE SPSS SOFTWARE

Dr. MASOOD H. SIDDIQUI (Professor and Head Department of Statistics, University of Lucknow) conducted the workshop on Day 02 and Day 03 on Bivariate Analysis using SPSS. Dr. Siddiqui, a prodigy in his profession, provided all the attendees with lessons that comprised a deep knowledge of research methodology. The terms like exploratory data analysis, significance testing, statistical inference, parametric testing, etc. were discussed on Day 02. Topics including hypothesis testing, correlation, and regression were profoundly covered on Day 3.

DAY 04 and DAY 05: Multivariate Analysis using Open-Source R

Dr. Saurabh Agarwal, a professor of machine learning and data analytics at HBTI Kanpur, served as the session’s resource person for days 4 and 5 covering topics of research methodology using open-source Python and R. He is a graduate and post-graduate engineer from IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi. Multiple Regression- Different Statistics and Assumptions, Logistics Regression, Binary Regression, Multinominal Regression, Linear Discriminant Analysis, Ordinal Regression, and other subjects were discussed during the workshop.

DAY 04 and DAY 05: Bibliometric Analysis and Meta-Analysis

Dr. Raja Sankaran (Ph.D. IIM-Ranchi) is a Professor at CMS Business School, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) who conducted the 2 days workshop on bibliometric Analysis and Meta-Analysis for the participants. He also gave the importance of Systematic Literature review while drawing attention to various tools available for it. All the sessions ended with an insightful online quiz in which all the registered participants took part zealously. Dr. Ruchi Garg presented the Vote of thanks.

Faculty Development Program on How to Avoid Publishing in Predatory Journals (05th March 2022)

A day-long Faculty Development Program was held on How to Avoid Publishing in Predatory Journalswas successfully conducted In Online Mode on the Zoom platform by the Research Cell of Lloyd Business School on 05th March 2022. The Faculty Development program received participation from various academic institutions like; IIT-Bombay, Banaras Hindu University, Swiss School of Business, Geneva, MIT Pune, Amity University, Noida International University, Reva University, Manipal University.

The resource person for the FDP was Professor (Dr.) Sumit Narula who is a Ph.D. in Electronic Media and Conflict Resolution from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He is presently working Deputy Dean Research (Publications and Research) at Amity University Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He is also the Director/Head of Institution in Amity School of Communication in Amity University, Madhya Pradesh.

Prof. Narula is also the Editor in Chief of the bi-annual SCOPUS indexed and UGC CARE Listed Journal named Journal of Content Community and Communication. He is also the Chairman of the recently established Centre of Excellence for Detection of Fake News and Disinformation at Amity University Madhya Pradesh

The FDP started with the introduction of Lloyd Business School, which was given by Dr. Fehmina Khalique.

After this, an Official Opening of the FDP and the Inaugural Address was done by Followed by this, was address by Director, Lloyd Business School, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Tiwari was given highlighting the significance of writing and publishing in genuine journals which have high degree of authenticity and reliability.

The FDP’s then started with its first session, and a detailed, comprehensive session was taken by up Prof. Narula on identifying the genuine journals and not falling into the prey of fake or cloned journals. Prof. Narula demonstrated practically how to figure out between the two and deliberated at length.

The FDP went into its second session by examining the UGC Care list and its duplicated journals that are prevailing in the market. In-sights were gained through this session on various parameters such as; understanding the key-words of a journal, editorial board of a particular journal, origin of the journal etc. The session was an informative one and created awareness through participant’s engagement.

In conclusion of the FDP, the Valedictory Session took place in which Dr. Poornima Madan proposed the Vote of Thanks. In her address, Dr. Poornima thanked Prof. Narula for conducting a valuable FDP that helped to gain new understanding in avoiding writing in predatory journals.

She also thanked President and Group Director, Lloyd Group of Institutions along with Director-LBS, Research Cell (Dr. Fehmina Khalique, Ms Neha Issar, Dr. Imad Ali. Mr. Tafheem Bashir and Dr. Dolly Gaur) and all other participants for attending the FDP and making it a success.

Faculty Development Program on Academic Business Cases: Development and Execution ( 22nd January 2022)

A day-long Faculty Development Program was held on Academic Business Cases: Development and Execution; was successfully conducted In Online Mode on the Zoom platform by the Research Cell of Lloyd Business School on 22nd January 2022. The Faculty Development program received participation from various academic institutions like; Amity University, Sharda University, G.D. Goenka University, SJJTU Rajasthan, Lovely Professional University, Alfalah University, Noida International University, Gautam Budha University, IMS Ghaziabad, JIMS, etc.

The resource person for the FDP was Prof. (Dr.) NimitGuptawho iscurrently associated as a Professor with North Cap University, Gurgaon. Being, a seasoned academician in outcome-based education, he is a certified marketing trainer trained by Dr. Philip Kotler. He is a qualified marketing expert from the University of British Columbia, Canada and Kyoto University, Japan and has 18 + years of experience in Teaching, Academic Administration, Consultancy and Research.

He has presented 30+ research papers/cases/articles in National and International Seminars organized by IIM (A), FMS, IIT (M), BIMTECH, IMT, etc. Dr. Nimit is a recipient of several scholastic performance awards including Best Case Award: Case Centre (USA), Best Case Writing Mentor- Katastasi, Excellence in Research Award: DIAS, MATES- Best Faculty Awardee, Salam Delhi Excellence in Education Awardee, ECONS Award for Outstanding Contribution in Higher Education, etc.

The FDP started with the introduction of Lloyd Business School, which was given by Dr. Fehmina Khalique.

After this, an Official Opening of the FDP and the Inaugural Address was done by Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Arora Sethi, Group Director, Lloyd Group of Institutions. In her address, the Group Director, welcome the Resource Person along with all the faculty members, participants from within and outside The Lloyd Group. During the address, it was emphasized by Prof. (Dr.) Vandana, the need for changing the habit and inculcating the aspiration ‘for learning to change the system’ as a lifelong process which can be very well understood through the importance of Business Case Studies.

She also appreciated the efforts of faculty members and participants for organizing and attending the FDP that reflected the hunger for knowledge, as Academicians. After this, address by Director, Lloyd Business School, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Tiwari was given highlighting the significance of Business Case Studies in the Teaching-Learning system in the actual classrooms.

He underlined the concepts of 6 Skills for Cognitive Learning which include; Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating and Creating and these skills can be acquired by Management Students through the exposure of Case Studies in their teaching pedagogy.

The FDP’s first session on the First Theme ‘Introduction to Case Writing - Types of cases, Characteristics of a teaching case, identifying the elements of Case Writing’ then commenced after the inaugural session. The session set the basis for the foundation of Case Writing and underlined the important aspects to be taken care of when writing a Case Study. An activity was given by the resource person to all the participants based on the first session’s theme and participants were actively involved for the same.

After this first session, FDP continued with the next session on the theme ‘Writing the Case - Information collection process, Scenario building for case development’. In this session, the resource person talked about the various procedures and techniques through which information can be collected for writing and building case studies.

The FDP afterward went into its final session’s theme on ‘Writing effective Teaching Notes’. In this particular session, Developing Teaching Notes on case studies was underscored, that how teaching notes can supplement business case studies and find out the best problem-solving skills and options for a specific situation in a Case Study.

Inconclusion of the FDP, the Valedictory Session took place in which Dr. Poornima Madan proposed the Vote of Thanks. In her address, Dr. Poornima thanked Prof. Nimit for conductinga valuable FDP that helped to gain new insights for writing and developing a case study in workshop mode.

She also thanked President and Group Director, Lloyd Group of Institutions along with Director-LBS, Research Cell members and all other participants for attending the FDP and making it a success.
